Elopement Photography at The Whangie
Let me tell you about one of the toughest climbs I have done…
Our Models for this styled shoot funnily enough were due to be married in the following month from this photoshoot. Chris & Angie are such a beautiful couple.
We thought it would be a great idea for them to get a pre-wedding shoot in with them to help them be ready for their proper wedding day!
Anyways back to the topic in hand, we decided on a location, The Whangie (Campsies in Glasgow) – yes that is a real place. Little did I know how much climbing there would be on this nor did I think how busy it would be especially with all that is going on in the world.
We started the ‘long’ climb up and I was ready to quit early on – I should probably mention I decided with trainers and a broken toe it was still a good idea to climb a big hill… With the path being quite muddy and rocky there where a few opportunities to almost slip and fall which may be a running theme by now at certain shot but I digress…
It was overcast but this meant nice soft light at the start of the climb, but it got really nice and sunny at the top. Angie managed to climb the whole mountain and not get mud on the dress once (yeah we started the climb with her wearing her dress thanks to our lovely dress maker.
So, we made it to the top and of course a ‘quick’ break was needed.
Once we had started the shoot it was quickly clear how much this couple loved each other, just look at these stunners:
It was clear to see Chris was well practised before he came to the shoot the wee poser that he is:

These guys were just so great together and an absolute pleasure to work with, you can tell they really have a great connection together by the moments I managed to steal, where they didn’t realise I had the camera pointed at them:
We had a great time up at the top but of course what goes up must come down, right?
I sent the rest of the guys ahead because I knew I would be slow especially since it was so muddy on the way up but to my surprise it had dried up considerably. As I was walking down, I could sure feel the effect of the climb up and my dodgy broken toe… Well I just had to add to it, didn’t I?
Remember I had mentioned a theme of slipping at previous shoots? Well I did just that! Slipped and was covered in mud, managed to protect the camera although it was a wee bit muddier than before. I thought that was it but NO I have to be a dafty and go over my ankle (with the noise I heard it make I was sure I was a gonner!) I’m not being melodramatic or using hyperbole here when I say this, there was a good 3-4 mins where I thought I was going to have to be air carried off the side of the hill…. But I managed to get back up and waddled down like a penguin back to the car.
Now I look back to it was the climb worth the photos??
